In January, I made a conscious choice to pivot. I turned away from negativity and dove into motivational content from speakers like Eric Thomas, Les Brown, and more. Their messages—go all in, learn from failure—sparked a profound shift. Last week marked a milestone: I shed over 100 lbs. in under a year. It wasn’t easy. My journey began last May with a cardiologist’s sobering words: “Get surgery or plan your funeral.” Getting surgery felt like a failure, but I took the plunge in August. Throughout the 2023 holidays, post-surgery, I fell back into old habits.
So, on January 1, 2024, I took my first 15-minute walk, quietly committing to change. I replaced political news with motivational content and found inspiration to finish my latest manuscript, start a screenplay, and prioritize health. It hasn’t been smooth sailing; old habits die hard. But I press on, knowing my story might inspire others. Beta readers have embraced my latest novel, “The Fury in Her Eyes,” and a screenplay based on “Last Exit to Montauk” is in the works. What lies ahead in 2024? Uncertainty, surely, but also growth. As Maya Angelou said, “There is no greater agony than bearing an untold story inside you.” Let’s tell our stories together. If you choose, share your story here. Again, if I can do it, so can you. I believe in you.
